Google AI Studio app is coming to Android and iOS this August

Google AI Studio users have deployed and shared nearly 200,000 apps over the past month, according to Google AI Studio and Gemini API lead Logan Kilpatrick. The apps were built and published through the platform at no cost, adding another milestone to Google's push to make AI-powered app development accessible to more people.

Kilpatrick shared the figure in a post on X, writing that "almost 200,000 apps built in Google AI Studio were successfully deployed and shared with the world (totally for free)." He added that the goal is to make it possible for anyone to bring their ideas to life.

Android and iOS app confirmed for August

The announcement also included an update on Google's mobile plans for AI Studio. Replying to a user asking when an Android app would be available, Kilpatrick simply responded, "In August."

Apart from that, the AI Studio listing on the App Store also mentions that it's expected to launch on August 1.

Google AI Studio currently runs primarily through the web, where developers and hobbyists can build AI applications using Gemini models without setting up a local development environment. An official Android and iOS app would make it easier to access projects, prototype ideas and test applications directly from mobile devices.

The latest deployment figure comes only days after Kilpatrick revealed another milestone for AI Studio's native Android app generation feature. He said users had created more than one million native Android apps inside AI Studio within a month of the capability becoming available. That feature allows developers to generate complete Android applications from natural language prompts directly inside the browser.

Google continues expanding AI Studio

Google has steadily expanded AI Studio over the past few months with new developer tools aimed at reducing the amount of manual work needed to build AI applications.

The company has positioned AI Studio as the primary environment for experimenting with Gemini models before moving projects into production. Developers can prototype applications, test prompts, integrate APIs and publish working projects without paying for hosting during the initial deployment stage.

Meanwhile, Google also just added quick design variations to the AI Studio platform. We covered the details earlier today.
