According to Kimi Developers, the character can “listen, reply, show different expressions, and move between scenes like a café and a shop.” It is a lot more interesting than another chatbot sitting in a text box.
The project reportedly started with a 3D model and a single prompt. K3 then completed around 95 steps in roughly 30 minutes, including setting up speech recognition, text-to-speech, the language model, and the scenes themselves.
