Claude Opus 5.5 lands in Antigravity, but free users lose Claude

Google's Antigravity coding app is getting Anthropic's newest Claude models. Claude Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 are coming to paid Google AI Pro and Ultra plans. The older Claude 4.6 models and OpenAI's open GPT-OSS 120B model are on their way out.

The change was spotted by Bee (@thtbee_), an X user who closely tracks Antigravity and Gemini. Bee shared screenshots of new notices inside the app's model menu.

This isn't just a rumor. Google's own Antigravity models page now lists both new Claude models for Pro and Ultra. It also says Sonnet 4.6, Opus 4.6 and GPT-OSS will be removed in early November. An archived copy from earlier this week didn't list the new models, and Google's blog and changelog haven't mentioned the change.

The catch is who gets left out. The same table gives free and Google AI Plus users no access to the new Claude models. Once the old ones go, those plans will have Gemini models only. Enterprise plans don't include Claude in Antigravity at all. A footnote adds that Pro access is for "non-trial subscriptions only."

That footnote might explain why Bee, who says they're on Pro, still saw a warning about losing third-party models. Google hasn't explained it yet.

Google hinted at this earlier. When Bee complained about the outdated model list, Varun Mohan, who builds Antigravity at Google DeepMind, replied: "Yes, we will clean this up shortly!"

Bee also thinks the swap hints that Gemini 4 Argon, Google's new top model, will roll out widely soon. Google hasn't linked the two. For now, Argon is limited to trusted cybersecurity testers, and Google says wider access will come "as soon as possible."

Our take: Antigravity is becoming a Gemini-first app, with Claude as a perk for paying users. Google AI Pro costs $20 a month, and Ultra starts at $100. If you rely on Claude in Antigravity's free plan, now is the time to plan ahead.
