Moonshot AI has apologized for the usage limits on its Kimi K3.1 Pro subscription plans and is giving every subscriber part of their monthly quota back.
In a post on X, the company said the rate limits and unnecessary quota use on K3.1 Pro were its own issues and that it should have fixed them sooner. Every subscriber on every plan is getting a one time reset that restores 25% of their monthly quota, which Moonshot says equals one week of usage. Anyone who has used less than 25% will see their usage go back to zero. Moonshot said usage bars would update by the end of the day, Pacific time.
We're sorry for the rate limits and unnecessary quota consumption on the K3.1 Pro subscription plan. These were our issues, and we should have fixed them sooner.

Today, every subscriber on every plan gets a one-time usage reset, restoring 25% of their monthly quota (usage below 25% resets to zero), equal to one week of usage. Your usage bar will reflect this adjustment by end of day PST.
We've also adjusted the plan's parameters and are reducing unnecessary subagent calls and output length, so your quota goes further.
Thank you for your patience while we put this right.
The company also said it has adjusted the plan's settings and is cutting unnecessary subagent calls and output length so quotas last longer. It did not say what the new settings are.
The apology follows a wave of complaints from paying users after K3.1 Pro launched on October 23. As TechcityAuthority reported earlier, some subscribers said the model burned through their limits within minutes, with one saying a single test build used more than a tenth of a monthly quota. Under Moonshot's membership rules, that monthly pool is shared across Kimi on the web, Kimi Work and Kimi Code.
At the time of this writing, Moonshot had not shared how much the plan changes will stretch each quota. Users will likely judge the fix by how their usage bars hold up over the coming weeks.
